Department of Electrical Engineering, National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India
ABSTRACT

This paper proposes a six leg voltage source inverter (VSI) based distributed static synchronous compensator (DSTATCOM) to compensate voltage swells under linear and nonlinear loads in a threephase four-wire (3P4W) distribution system. The proposed scheme with associated control strategy has the capability to mitigate voltage swells under linear and nonlinear loads and makes the load voltage as balanced sinusoidal. The performance of the proposed scheme has been verified using MATLAB/ Simulink platform and detailed results are presented.

THE EFFECT OF MASS TRANSFER WITH MIXED CONVECTION BOUNDARY LAYER FLOW ALONG VERTICAL MOVING THIN NEEDLES WITH VARIABLE HEAT FLUX

Department of Applied Sciences, AITS, Amrapali Group of Institutes, Haldwani, Uttarakhand, India

ABSTRACT

The study of the steady laminar mixed convection boundary layer flow of an incompressible viscous fluid, with heat and mass transfer along vertical thin needles with variable heat flux has been considered. The governing boundary layer equations are first transformed into non dimensional form and then after using similarity transformations converted into set of ordinary differential equations. The set of ordinary differential equations are solved with the help Runge-Kutta method with shooting technique. The value of skin friction coefficient and the surface temperature, wall concentration, velocity profile as well as temperature profile are obtained for different values of dimensionless parameters with m=0, which is case for a blunt nosed needle. The magnitude of velocity decreases with increasing needle size and increases with increasing local buoyancy parameter. The graphical and tabulated results are presented.

ABSTRACT

Present box type solar cooker is only successful in sunshine hours. In the present research work, a solar cooker has been developed which can work even during Non-Sunshine hours and can be installed in the kitchen itself. In the present work, the system a system has been developed where heat is transferred to cooking material in solar cooker in non-sunshine hours from Acetamide, a PCM, which store energy during Sunshine hours. PCM is heated by hot water which is heated in a flat plate collector using annular evacuated glass tubes. It was possible to achieve the temperature of 63.6°C during non-sunshine hours and was enough to cook the food stuff.
